Meet Ian Johnston - The founder of Inner Shift Recovery Coaching

I’m a recovery coach, mentor, and long-time facilitator who believes that real change happens through honest conversation, steady support, and respect for each person’s path.

My coaching approach is shaped by lived experience, decades of professional leadership and coaching, years of competitive athletics, and a deep respect for the courage it takes to challenge ourselves; especially when life is complicated. I’ve spent many years guiding individuals, teams, and communities through transition, uncertainty, and rebuilding, and I bring that same grounded, collaborative approach into recovery coaching and support. I don’t believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all answers.

I believe in listening first, asking good questions, and helping people reconnect with their strengths, values, and desires. Recovery isn’t about being “fixed”; it’s about adjustment, courage, and building a life that feels honest, sustainable, and worth staying present for.

Inner Shift Recovery is here to support people who want thoughtful, non-judgmental guidance—whether they’re early in recovery, strengthening long-term sobriety or navigating other life challenges, or supporting someone they love through a difficult season. My role isn’t to design your life, it's to walk alongside you and help clarify what matters to you, make meaningful changes, and move forward at a pace that’s right for you.
